About This Work

"Clash of Black Roosters: A Symbolic Exploration of Power and Survival" In the world of roosters, winning the ultimate prize requires a brutal battle, where one must vanquish their opponent with relentless claws and beak until the ground is baptized in the blood of the defeated. This savage spectacle mirrors a timeless truth in the human experience: gaining power often involves the elimination of rivals. This painting is one out of many under the series title "Clash of the Roosters” which is a visual series that brings forth the rarely witnessed spectacle of these magnificent birds engaged in fierce combat. Through this portrayal, it symbolizes a fundamental aspect of our lives: the struggle for survival and dominance. The battles depicted in this series draw parallels to the common and grisly sport of cockfighting found in various countries, where spectators wager on the outcome of a gruesome duel. In these confrontations, there is always a winner and a loser, with the latter paying the ultimate price. Within this project, I present a collection of paintings featuring vibrantly colored roosters locked in intense, antagonistic, and aggressive combat. The survivor, adorned with a few remaining feathers, symbolizes the frenzied ecstasy of victory. However, one must question the true nature of this triumph—achieved at the cost of numerous victims. The series invites contemplation on the identity of these victims and the moral implications of such conquest. "Clash of the Roosters" serves as a reflection on the primal forces that shape our world, reminding us that in the pursuit of power, we must grapple with the ethical consequences that follow.
