Artist Statement:
Understanding architecture geometries as well as capturing their nuances has been since my early years one of my most passionate activities, together with navigating and exploring the urban form throughout as many cities in the world as I have been able to visit so far. These passions, combined with my architecture studies, opened me the chance to spend more than a decade working, as a freelance architecture visualizer, with some of the most prestigious architectural firms located here in Barcelona, mostly by assisting them and giving counsel on how to best visually explain their projects. By the end of these wonderful years, in 2006, I decided to use all the skills and experience as a means for more personal endeavors.
Photography, CG and, most recently, oil painting, have become the mediums that I currently use to achieve the challenges that I expect to meet through the creation of visual arts. It all began with the publishing of a 3D/photographic series called "City Portraits", a widely acclaimed compound of images of transformed/deformed architectures, that put my body of work in the global scene during the 2010s.
Today, having decided to abandon the digital formats, I make use of digital processes just for the creation and constant optimization of a painting technique that I created in 2019, a technique that would help me fulfill the purpose of being able to paint the kind of works that are currently on displayed here. A line of works that, for now, are meant to explore all the possibilities, some of them still hidden to us, that offer us the depiction of the contemporary urban world that we live in.
