Betsy Miller

I live in Cobourg, Ontario and started painting in 2008 after obtaining my Fine Arts Certificate from Sheridan College, Oakville, Ontario after many years in the Banking industry. I always knew that my heart was not in banking, and my passion was in colour and design.
I originally started painting with palette knife, using acrylics on canvas, and applying layers of contrasting colours. I also experiment with liquid acrylic drip in a gestural style influenced by Jackson Pollack.
Recently I have been using brushes, marks and strokes to create colourful contemporary pieces.
I have been accepted into many juried shows in Ontario, including the Artist Project in Toronto.
My work is instinctive and I am influenced by expressionist painters such Joan Mitchell, Helen Frankenthaler, Hans
Hoffman, Gerhard Richter and
many more.
My work continues to evolve in new directions.
